Ms. Photographer | Carly Zinga

Fashion photography is something that's always interested me, from the model, the designer, the stylist, the make-up artist and the actual photographer. There are so many creative minds in a single space, so that creative process just gets me so hyped.

It seems that almost all my Ms/Mr. Photographers features are found through Instagram. This post is no different. I think I've been following Carly Zinga on Instagram for a year or two, and she has yet to leave me uninspired. Her photos are bold, but simple, and often have a slightly youthful or grungy quirk. There's always a sense of honesty/genuineness captured in her work that looks so effortless and just beauuuutiful. She really is a dynamite photographer, and I really am obsessed with her. I stalk her blog on the daily, desperately hoping for a new post.

I'm surprised I haven't featured her yet. This post stremmed from me looking through my previous Ms./Mr. Photographer features, and realising that Carly wasn't one of them. I couldn't believe it, I could've sworn I'd featured her before... So here you have it, one of my absolute favourite photographers and never-ending inspirations.

Follow her on Instagram or her blog.
(PS. Love and prayers go out to Justin Bieber.)

Personal | Keeping Up With Kenzo

Sheesh! I haven't posted anything since November of last year, and saying that I'm ashamed would be the understatement of the century. The worst part is that my absence isn't due to a lack of time, I mean, I have been on holiday for 6 weeks, but I've just been a lazy little bum, and I have my 6 week holiday to thank for that. Oh, and can we acknowledge my nod to the Kardashian klan in the title? It's no coincidence that my name begins with a 'K'. You see, I was separated from Kris at birth.  *shrugs* No biggie.

I wish you all an absolutely lovely 2014, and a ridiculously belated merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it. I'm cringing at the fact that I'm saying this so late, but formalities are a must and what-not. Hopefully this year will bring with it bigger, better and more fabulous things, because I'm pretty sure we can all do with a little improvement, yes?

I think the most memorable and mentionable event of my holiday was my trip to Cape Town, which involved a seemingly short (at the time) 15 hour drive to and from the place. It's such a beautiful place... The kind of beautiful that looks good at any angle, in any lighting or resolution. It really is another world compared to Jo'burg, and not only because Jo'burg isn't as naturally scenic, but also the fact that the sun doesn't set at EIGHT-THIRTY here. I mean, the days in Cape Town go on foreeeever!

Okay, I'm done gushing now.

10 things that have happened in my life since my last post:
  1. Went to Cape Town (I think we've established that one.)
  2. Got an iPhone! (It was about time.)
  3. Started Grade 11, and practically agsdvddefyieyfdb when I remembered that I'd have to apply to university with this year's marks.
  4. Had plans for new year that didn't involve my family for once. Yay for independence!
  5. Made resolutions that will most probably contribute to self-improvement in a much less superficial kind of way. (None of those 'go to gym' and 'stop bad habit' dreams that never withstands the test of time.)
  6. Achieved what I wanted academically! Yes, yes, a thousand times YES!
  7. Read AND FINISHED my first Jodi Picoult book. (For some reason I've never been able to get into one, but Change of Heart has literally become one of my favourite books.)
  8. My hubby's new album, Journals, hit #1 on iTunes. Cop that here!
  9. Acknowledged and accepted my obsession with Drake. I get it, I get, I swear that I get it! (If you've listened to 305 To My City you'd get the reference I just made towards that song. I'm so good.)
  10. Realised that I absolutely abuse the use of brackets in my writing. (I did deliberately exaggerate them in this particular post just to prove a point, but if you look at previous posts, you'll see my problem.)
Beach with my sunnies from Aldo.
V&A Waterfront

We had to do the whole tourist thing and visit Charly's Bakery... We got a little eager with their mucking afazing cakes!
*Pulls a weird face so it doesn't look posed*
Happy Friday!

Personal | Busy Bee

First off, I'd like to apologize for the major hiatus Oh, Kenzo has undergone. I'm not dead, but I might be dying from lack of sleep and an oversupply of work, seeing as I'm currently writing year-end exams. I think this is a pretty good justification to my absence, so please forgive me. (I'll be done in just under a week from now, hollaaaaa!)

With that said, I thought it would be a good time to show you some of what I've been up to. If you don't know, I take art and design as subjects, and so my hours are dedicated to working on my art, and although I'd like to say that this is the reason behind my non-existent social life, I doubt I'd have one without all the art to do... *laughs awkwardly*

For our exam, we were asked to research (through photography and experimentation) different viewpoints/perspectives and media. Basically, aerial views, worm's eye views etc., and media like pen, watercolour, colour pencils, etc. I've used colour pencils for the majority of the art work below, graphite pencils, black pen and watercolour for the minor sections. My hair, which was mostly cut off when photocopying the reference, was done with chalk and charcoal.

As you can probably tell from the bottom section, it's not finished, but I had to hand it in for marking nevertheless. This project pushed me to my limits, because using a bunch of foreign media in such a large piece, for me, (A2) is very daunting. I'm quite surprised by the way it turned out, considering that I've never attempted anything in colour pencils before... Anyway, blah, blah, fish paste. *rambles on forever*

Tell me what you think!
